Mother's Day fundraisers will be held in Kangaroo Island, Goondiwindi and Spring Ridge.
Motherland has announced it’s hosting three Mother’s Day fundraisers this year which will be held in rural New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.
Tickets to the Kangaroo Island, Goondiwindi, and Spring Ridge events are now on sale, with the local celebrations aimed at furthering Motherland’s mission of connecting women on the land and reducing isolation, while raising much needed funds and awareness of the charity’s support services.
The announcement comes after Motherland’s recent inaugural national conference in Tasmania which was a sell-out, and follows on from its Mother’s Day fundraising event in Goondiwindi last year which saw over 120 women from across the region and beyond attend.
Local farmer, mum of two, and Motherland’s Queensland Ambassador Alice Woods will be back to host this year’s Goondiwindi fundraiser.
“We go through drought, flood and market volatility on a near-annual basis. The one constant is the support of the rural women through events like this. I think it is so important that these same women are celebrated and recognised,” Alice said.
Australian Country singer-songwriter, Raechel Whitchurch whose debut Album hit #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Chart will headline the Goondiwindi Fundraiser and perform some of the songs from her new album ‘What a time to be Alive;’ which launches next month, with social media ‘farm-fluencer’ mums Steph Borowski and Kaitie Nash joining a panel to share their stories, alongside Raechel.
The inaugural Spring Ridge Fundraiser will be hosted by Motherland’s NSW Ambassador Georgina Simson, with Motherland founder, CEO and 2024 Australian of the Year for Tasmania Stephanie Trethewey facilitating a panel session with NSW Shadow Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell, editor of Found Regional Steph Wanless, and general manager of Antola Trading Kate Fissenden.
“I’m very proud to launch Motherland to the Liverpool Plains community through our first fundraiser, and we’re so lucky to have an incredible panel of leaders and businesswomen join us. While they have vastly different professional stories to share, they are united through the ups and downs of motherhood that each of them have navigated,” said Georgina.
On Kangaroo Island, Motherland’s South Australian Ambassador Marissa Veitch will host celebrations alongside a panel of local speakers including mum and Empowerment Coach Annie Morris, and mum, teacher, and farm owner advocate Meg Cooper. Motherland Village Program Manager Kate Brow will facilitate the panel.
“The women I have been connected to through my Motherland Village group have expanded my local “KI” village of supportive friends and family, and together, these villages have been pivotal in shaping the mum I am today,” said Marissa.
All proceeds from the Motherland fundraisers will go directly to the charity and enable the organisation to continue to grow its impact including funding more scholarships for rural mums in each of the states who are struggling financially so they can access the Motherland Village program for free.
“Our Mother’s Day fundraisers are a testament to the generosity of local businesses, and the community spirit in rural Australia. Motherland is significantly contributing to reducing isolation, improving mental health outcomes, and creating connections for mums on the land, and we simply can’t do what we do without the support of fundraisers like these” said Stephanie Trethewey.
Limited tickets to all three Motherland fundraisers are on sale at motherlandaustralia.com.au/events.
