Motherland joins forces with Care for Africa Foundation

Two Tasmanian based charities will join forces for a local fundraising event in Launceston to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the work they do in rural Australia and Africa.

The Care for Africa Foundation and Motherland have announced the 2023 Friendship Cocktail Party which will be held at the Country Club Tasmania on Saturday November 25th from 6.30pm. Hosted by the Rotary Club of South Launceston, the event will bring the local community together to celebrate global connections.

Care for Africa partners with communities in Tanzania to fight against poverty and empower independence by providing water, health, education and enterprise. Motherland is a national charity which supports isolated rural mothers in Australia and delivers services and programs that connect rural women and improve mental health outcomes.

“It’s wonderful to be working with Motherland because we both aim to unite rural women in Australia and Tanzania and give them a voice and purpose” said CEO and Founder of Care for Africa, Diana Butler OAM.

“The work both our organisations do is real and raw, and the money raised will go directly to the initiatives we deliver that support rural women in Australia, and rural communities in Tanzania,” said CEO and Founder of Motherland, Stephanie Trethewey.

Diana and Stephanie will be guest speakers on the evening. In 2016, Diana Butler was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her work with Care for Africa and her service to the people of Tarime. In 2022, Stephanie was named the Tasmanian Winner and the National Winner of the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award for her work supporting rural mothers.

There will be a Balloon Raffle on the evening, and an online silent auction with incredible prizes up for grabs. There will also be an opportunity to make an additional donation towards both causes.
